One thing I’ve always been known for is my size. I’m schmall–as Eleanor would say. I’m exactly 5 feet tall (I suppose that eighth of an inch really doesn’t count). Some might even call me the size of a nugget (um… Sarah and Aranya). But I’ve always wondered, if I really were a nugget what kind would I be: Chicken or Gold?

I wouldn’t have gotten through grad school without Sbarro’s. The deliciously good Italian food was conveniently placed inside Norris, Northwestern’s go-to cafeteria, and provided us with wholesome meals during the Magazine Publishing Project. Journalism will tank sooner than expected if Medill’s grad students can’t get their cheesy pizza and baked ziti. I know you feel me Chris Sweeney.

Last week I attended the Northwestern seminar “How to Get a Job With Your Magazine Concentration.” While the seminar was encouraging, I’ve already done most of the little “tricks” they recommended. I have a Web site that links to my clips. I have some kick “a” business cards. I’m already cross-platform, multi-platform, whatever-you-want-platform. So these tips sort of felt felt like no-brainers. The seminar did, however, reinforce something I’ve always know: it’s all about who you know (don’t hate me for sounding so cliche).
Nine times out of 10, when a job …

So, Dancin’ Kim… she’s alive and well here on IMDB.com. I guess the freak accident was too good to be true. May you live in peace, Kim.

So it’s approximately 11:57 p.m. and my downstairs neighbor is fighting with his girlfriend–it’s almost as bad as when they get along. My mind wanders as I stare out the window across the alley. Why is my neighbor’s light always on? 2 a.m. On. 6 a.m. On. 10 a.m. On. 7 p.m. On. Every day, on. Hmm… Who’s he married to? Where does he work? Is he a good person? He must work nights and she works days. That’s why the light is always on. After 20 …

Since Dancin’ Kim was so much fun, I thought I’d share another infamous look alike of mine. I was told on numerous occasions in undergrad that I’m going to look/act like Cheryl Hines (Larry David’s wife on Curb Your Enthusiasm) when I get older. Hines has a new show In the Motherhood premiering this March. Check out the clip. She’s the one yelling “You’ll wake the baby.”
Once again, if you don’t know me, I apologize. I’m sure you’re imagining some crazy Thrilla-dancing freak yelling “You’ll wake the baby.” Don’t worry, …

A friend of mine (Sarah) just told me that I reminded her of Dancin’ Kim. For those of you who don’t know who Dancin’ Kim is she’s probably one of the most artistic dancers of our time. May she rest in peace (Kim died “in a freak accident at the Mecklenberg County Fair when she was struck by a metal clamshell-shaped car that disengaged from its moorings on the Tilt-A-Whirl while Kim was giving an aerobics demonstration.” Not sure if this is true, but sh*t!). Anyway, if you know me …

So in all my spare time, I’ve started another Web site to talk about women and their portrayal in the media (from a very non-hater, feminist perspective). Womankind Media wants to be a place for open discussion about women in the news (journalists and citizens alike). Here’s our mission statement:
Womankind Media provides a place for open discussion to talk about gender bias in the media. We aren’t placing blame. We aren’t man haters or bra-burning feminists. Womankind Media is just a group of educated, female journalists who want to understand …
